Hello,
I am greener then green on Studes but have 2 of them. the 49 is my learner and I am about to start reassemling soon.I believe there are no stupid questions so get ready.
1)When my 49 was together it leaned to the front drivers side. Where should I start? As easy as a shock replacement, rebuild, adjustment or other?
2) I ordered some engine paint from SDC vendor link and provided it to my engine rebuilder. I thought it would be the bright green I have seen. Turned out to be a dark army green. Is this correct for a 49, 4door Champion?

Thank you for your help,
I'll be back!!

1) The army color drab green paint is correct.

2) Your car has Houdaille shocks on it which can be rebuilt, search the web and you will find rebuilders. New ones are hard to find. The lean could be due to other things. Your car has planar suspension on the front which means instead of having a coil spring on either side, you have one rear leaf-ike rear spring that traverses the front. You could have a broken leaf in this spring. There are other problems like rusted out body mounts that could cause the problem. I would suggest you take a look at the car before you order parts.

They are fun cars to drive, good luck.

Bruce,
Welcome to the forum. I hope one of the next things you do is join SDC if you haven't already. Membership SDC will be a big help to you and your projects. You'll have answers to all your questions in due time. The forum has some very knowledegble members that love to help.
I can't answer the question about the lean.
The engine color is close to Army green.
Check out the how to post pictures post at the top of the page. We all love to see pictures.

Welcome oh green one! As Unclemilitie suggests, I'd look at springs. Shock's not gonna make a bit of difference in ride height.[:I]

Had a '49 that leaned.
It was the springs - had new ones made, sat just right!
