  • '64 Hawk - Master Cylinder - THANK YOU!

    To whomever can help ...

My father-in-law passed away this past weekend. The services are Monday in Phoenix.
He has a 1964 Studebaker Hawk that he is the original owner on. He drove it up until a couple years ago, and was a big part of his life. It is still in tremendous shape.
My wife and I got a mechanic we know in town who deals with older cars, who came over to the house and got the car up-and-running and had it detailed.
    It looks gorgeous.

Here's the catch. We would like to have it lead the procession Monday.
    It drives okay.
    Stopping is an issue.
The mechanic said it needs a new master cylinder - but the folks he called said that getting those parts would take 7-10 days.
If worse comes to worse, we'll put the Studebaker on a flat bed and take it to and from that way ... but we figured we'd exhaust all our options first.

So ... if anybody knows where we can locate/order a Master Cylinder ASAP, we would be greatly for any leads.

    Thank you,
    Jason Christley

If it does not have disk brakes, your local parts store can get one in a day or so since they were used on jeeps and others.

JP are you talking about the NAPA United 2796?? IIRC that is the number for drum/drum brakes??
My local NAPA had one in stock a few years ago, when I needed one for a 59 Lark.
They are also used on lots of industrial equipment like front end loaders and forklifts which is why the NAPA had one in stock.

Chuck had the part and the Hawk will be part of the services. Thank you for your help and quick response. It will mean a lot to Ted's family to have the car as part of the procession.

              Thanks again,
              Jason

Why don't you just have the old one honed and repaired by your local shop?
