I have had some car parts shipped to me via Greyhound (not Stude parts, though!) Their prices are reasonable - UPS, etc, although you do have to pick up at the bus station.

I received a transmission/OD from Indiana to Las Vegas (too heavy for UPS to take) via Greyhound and the cost to the shipper was about $60. I think it was based on weight. Arrived in perfect condition in about 4 days.

Las Vegas, NV - Stop by, coffee's on!

Yes. My father had a 4 speed transmission shipped via Greyhound from South Bend to Minneapolis. No problems at all.

I have taken car doors, fenders etc to greyhound for shipping without a problem. I bought some front fenders last year for a 50 commander, those puppies are heavy and bulky. The came from the California to here in St. Louis, if I remember correctly they cost me around $60 each to have shipped. There sometimes is a delay in the shipping if they have a full bus as they take the freight off till the next bus if they need room for baggage. I have been very pleased with their service.

Had a back seat frame shipped to me from Arizona to Milwaukee, seemed reasonable. Had to pick up at depot, not too bad if you live near one. Not all Greyhound depots handle freight though. overall positive experience

As an ex-driver for Greyhound I would caution you in two ways:

First, don't be in a hurry.

Second, if the door has a window, make sure you roll it down.

Then I would add a third, PACK IT WELL.

Other than that, the ol' dog beats UPS any day in cost. As has been mentioned, being close to an old Dog Pound (Greyhound Station) is a plus.;)

LOL!!
Ron I was wondering if you was going to reply to this post.
I have had parts shipped via the "Dog" and no complaints.
As long as they are packaged well.
