Well I did it. Went out and bought what my girl and I think is a very cool car, a '52 Commander sedan. Being a former (reformed) muscle car guy, I have no idea where to start with her. Not even sure where to look for specific info about the car. Is there a fender tag on these? I have been searching the sites for shop manuals but don't want to start buying parts and stuff for a car I don't have. Any advice is appreciated. Not to worry, I've got a thick skin. :) Many thanks!

Welcome to the SDC Forum.
There is a body tag on the firewall under the hood, passenger side. It will divulge the precise model and trim level.
The Serial plate from the door post will tell us where your '52 was built.
You can order the original build sheet from the Studebaker National Museum to determine precise original options, color, etc.

Body Catalog, Chassis Catalog and Shop Manual are available in print or CDRom.

First thing to do is join SDC (see "STICKY" message at the top of this Forum topic page).
For $19.95 you will receive the best car club magazine in the world, filled with vendors, history, technical pages and Studebaker events happening near you.

Also see the "STICKY" explaining how to post pictures. We are all suckers for pictures. WE MUST HAVE PICTURES!

Thanks for the very warm welcome. Sorry about the logistics error, it's been corrected. We live in Phoenix proper.
Good advice in regard to the local club, I will reach out to them. Now that I'm armed with all this info, I will do a bit of research (and cleanup...) on her and report back (yes, with pictures :))

I;m a bit greedy when it comes to information, so feel free to keep it coming!

Studeclunker, I'm afraid your '52 is light years ahead of mine. I'll be sure to pick your brain.

There are many ways to get and seek help but the local chapter is the best place along with all of the great people here. If you want to really get into it, buy an airplane ticket and come to York, PA this weekend and attend the "World's Largest" All Studebaker Swap Meet. It starts tomorrow and goes thru Sunday with Saturday being the best day. Make sure you bring your winter coat as it is going to be cool.
