Temp Sending Unit??

Can someone tell me if htere is a modern temp unit that will work in a 54 coupe 6 volt. I know that Studebaker Intl sells them but $45.00 is a bit high. I have located one a local parts store but I am not sure if it will work. What is the Ohms resistance for a correct one? and does it matter that my car is 6 volt positive ground? Any help in this woild be great.

Yes I purchased one Saturday for $6.00 everything is correct but I am not sure if the ohms are correct for the 54 233 6 volt car.
