I think the Hawk antenna and '51 antenna are different animals; spools run opposite directions and housing is backwards. Am I wrong?

How would you restring one of the reels in these crank antennas? What do you use? Is it piano wire, or some specific cable type?

I also have one that needs to be rebuilt. If the other one mentioned here is gone already, mine is also available for $100.

Do not limit your self to a 1950-52 type roll up.
All the roll ups rom 1947 to 1952 while having different part numbers are identical. Studebake did not change the curve on the A pillar so 47-52 will fit. Other years will it if you can find a junker and canablize the the holder that is under sheet metal groved grabber and the retainer piece that fits the contour of the curve of the outer body piece.

I have seen them at swap meets between $150 to $195 If you see one on E-bay do not get into a biding frenzy. There was also a vaccumm model that used the air off the intake manifold to actuate it.
