Accessory Luggage Carrier Roof Rack for Studebaker Sedans?

I recently purchased some Studebaker literature including 1957 and 1958 Accessories Brochures.

These are 9" by 12" brochures both have 14 pages -- the 1957 is for Studebaker and the 1958 is for Studebaker and Packard. They are larger than the later Accessories brochures.

The 1957 brochure states that the roof top luggage carrier is "Just the right complement to give your Studebaker Station Wagon or Sedan more capacity, convenience . . . and added distinction. Spacious, yet designed to integrate harmoniously into the exterior lines." Included are a large picture of the roof rack and two small pictures -- one of a station wagon and one of a long wheelbase President Sedan -- both with roof racks installed. The 1958 brochure has similar wording but only has the larger picture of the rack on what appears to be on a station wagon roof.

So . . . has anyone ever owned -- or even seen -- a Studebaker Sedan or South Bend made Packard Sedan with the accessory roof rack installed?

Kinda cool looking in a European way -- air cooled VW Beetle Sedans are commonly seen with accessory roof racks -- but a Studebaker?

Yes I knew of a '62 Lark 2 Door Sedan owned by a former Orange County, CA SDC Member WITH a Factory Roof Rack, they existed, just not many. Probably the SAME Rack as on more Wagons.

At an Auction we went to in Wyoming, there was a Lark same model: Lark Deluxe 2 Door Sedan with a Factory Skytop, both would be I would think, the LEAST likely Model to have these rare options.

Just still another Proof that if you wanted a Car "Your Way", you didn't go to GM, Ford or Chrysler Corp.

Just today I had a conversation with a SDC member about this. In the early 1980s he bought a Lark sedan with a roof rack at an auto auction.

Well, currently it's sitting on top of my '57 Broodmore shell. Best I can do to keep it out of the reach of the goats. However, I have new and improved storage options in Fawn Lodge, so it just might head inside. Provided of course, there's room.

I just hang the stainless protector strips right behind the Rack on the Wall, takes 0 Floor Space!

I had a '61 Lark wagon with a roof rack. Voxnut, on here has it now.



The roof rack on my VW is easilly removeable unlike the Stude's.

You do not find a '60 to '62 4 Dr. Lark Wagon in Regal Trim like that very often.

The Stainless Steel upper tailgate window Frame and Drip Rail Mouldings are the clue to the beautiful Top of the line, Regal Interior inside not visible in most exterior Pics.
