Drove '55 hdtp coupe today

Had a balky tranny. Wouldn't downshift without lots of shuddering. Well, we adjusted the choke and brought the idle speed down to normal and the tranny was very smooth. The lock-up torque converter downshifted without any harshness. Drove the thing for about 2 hours. Nice. 259 motor is strong and has gobs of low-end torque. No smoke and the exhaust really sounds sweet thru new steel-packed mellowtones. I bought a 53 hdtp coupe and this one has to go! Will put it on flea--oops--Ebay probably tomorrow.
