I have the good fortune of having a 1955 C5 Commander Regal Coupe with Body#8 called out on the body tag. So now I am trying to get a rough idea of how many other survivors are out there, bearing a single digit body number. Particularly curious about 55 Commanders for obvious reasons. Still if you have any year, model or trim configuration and the body number is a single digit. Please chime in here. Its got to be a fairly exclusive club, so informal poll to see just how many survive.

Single-digit body numbers ended with the 1958 model year; the first 1959 model year bodies welded up were #101. BPWe've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Looks like this informal pole has yielded 2 other than mine so far. I know there is more as I have seen a few in TW, and a bunch of Body tags in that article, but presumably those are no longer surviving if the tag is alone in a collection. Anyone else? Maybe there is just "almost none" still in existence. How funny would it be if there are less than 9 total.55 Commander Regal Coupe

I have a '58 President Sedan that probably is the ONLY '58 Studebaker extant that was ordered with AC-2887 Power Antenna, Cowl Mounted, maybe the ONLY President 4 Door with same ordered.
But the truth is, just like your Body #8, this trivia is cool, but has very little value or even significance at all, and no one cares.StudeRich

In the case of a 1947, 1953, 1956 Golden Hawk, 1963 Lark, or 1963 Avanti, it may not have been very reassuring at all to own 'Body #1' when it was brand new. The original owner no doubt would have experienced more annoyances such as rattles, leaks, and wind noise than those with much later body numbers.
The Lamberti reports give excellent insight on the Avanti's ongoing production problems.
