Which years? Early cars used a cartrige type if it was equipped with the optional filter. Fram # C-4. 57 through 62 used a spin on bypass type Fram # PB-50. 63-64 Full flow used PH11. Trucks used a different number.Bez Auto Alchemy

Rich, supercharged cars all used the pb 50.....even in 57. But regular cars still used the canister type.Last edited by bezhawk; 09-13-2018, 04:57 AM.Bez Auto Alchemy

The 63-64 full flow V-8 filter also fits 65 Buick small block V-8 and probably a bunch of other GM cars also. That will keep them in stock a bit longer than a Studebaker only filter would.RadioRoy, specializing in AM/FM conversions with auxiliary inputs for iPod/satellite/CD player. So the rare exception would be the Supercharged Golden Hawks and 1957 Packard Clippers which needed the more compact bracket and mount for a Spin-On than a Canister Type.
Also; the '47-'57, 6 Cyl. Engines did not have a F4 Filter with a C4 Cartridge, IF the Dealer installed the correct Fram unit, it would be a F3, with a C3 Element.StudeRich

I thought I stated that? The original question was V8 Studebaker engines. We could also go on about the Packard V8s, and the McKinnon (Chevy) V8s. There were a lot of aftermarket kits that were owner installed also. Like a generic Fram type, and the ever popular Frantz.Bez Auto Alchemy
