The price is in the ballpark for #1, R2 4 spd. IMO, since there are some non-stock items, at most a #2, more likely #3. Still a nice car. When I saw R3 airbox, I was a little excited. Then I saw the PO showing the R2 engine number.

My brothers '63 was a high #2 and a lot nicer than this one and it sold for $44,000 and went to Germany. We were happy with the sale and are moving on to other projects. Bill

And not even the Original Color!
By late in the '64 Run, Black had long been discontinued and replaced with Gray as this one was.

Black was reinstated as an extra-cost option: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?104844-FOR-SALE-1964-Avanti-R2-with-four-speed-8-500

In this case, the PO does say Avanti gray.

Priced exactly where it should be. (IMHO). I would want stock tach, and hidden ignition box. I like the wheels, but they are heavy and make them ride harsh. been there done that.

Also the original color was grey, now black...no mention from the seller on this:-(

The market will determine what it "hammers" down for.

I really don't think he is pricing for "the market". Hoping for the one buyer that want's it is more like it. I wouldn't bother with Ebay where people are looking for bargains to sell anything of high value.

Hawklover,
Thanks for the compliment,
..btw, BC is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen!! however the last few days have been marred with smoke from wildfires(both in BC and Washington State).Thankfully they are some distance away but yes, it normally is very beautiful.
Cheers,

Only helps the ""all" that currently own one or more Avantis, not those looking to buy another Avanti or a first Avanti.

Not only remember it, but I was in Leary's complex, near Millbrook, NY, back in the day.

In running LSD is "long slow distance". At my age, all runs are slow. I remember going to a lecture Timothy Leary gave while I was in college.

How can LSD be Long Slow Run? I don't get it.

I'm with studegary regarding "Long Slow (R?)un"... More like Craig's "Lifetime Studebaker Driver". I got my first when I was 16.

I will be trailering my Avanti south from near Edmonton to Great Falls or along 200 to Missoula and then west on I90 to Tacoma. This should avoid most of the fires in BC and northern Washington...

And last thought in this post; I am having my car judged just to get an idea of a value on it and what it really needs before I tear it apart next year. Later.

Hey Norm,
Did you see my post regarding "Studebakers of Montana"? You will pass them on Hwy 200.

Sorry to hijack a thread but maybe a quick confirmation of location on Hwy 200 would help. I can't locate using Google Earth. Thanks, Bill.

I will repost on Studebaker of Montana thread.

No, I didn't. I was there on official business that I see no need to go into here.

I wouldn't bother with Ebay where people are looking for bargains to sell anything of high value. Ebay is definitely not a tell tale of the market. Good place to sell if you don't mind dumping a nice car or part. CASO mindset audience. cheers jimmijim "not a cheap ass"

My standard advice for anyone wanting a lot of money for a Studie is to remove all the logos and scripts identifying it as such and replace them with Chevy blue bowties. Then you can sell it to any unknowing individual and the sky's the limit, price wise. And, as Oliver Hardy said, "And no one will be the wiser!

Or, people can stop bashing prices, and embrace that Studebaker do indeed have a value. I don't "get" the mindset that a club that is supposed to promote a marque spends so much energy bashing the same. (end of rant)
