I wonder if Studebaker went overhead valve in 1960 with their own sixes & they stop sidevalve sixes & got Chevy (McKinnon?) stovebolts (as with the V8 283) when they stopped making their own V8's?

The OHV 6 was a flat head conversion of their 6 dating back to the Champion.

All engine production ended with 1964 models, so in 1965 and 1966, if you wanted a six, it was a McKinnon

The 170 Overhead Valve Six was an all Studebaker Engine and was released in late 1960 for the 1961 Year Model Cars and Trucks.
A whole lot of them were used in the USPS Postal Zip Van fleet order, attached to H.D. Oil cooled, low gear start, Flight-O-Matic Transmissions.

Ok, thanx a lot, that's what I call complete answers! :)

(But I now understand that I've heard wrong about the year as I've been told earier that the o.h.v. 6's came for the -60 model, so maby my parents Lark wagon could have been a -60, until now I thought it was a -59.)
