  • Packard at Mecum Harrisburg

There was a very nice 1956 Packard The Four Hundred sold at the current Mecum auction in Harrisburg, PA. I believe that it sold for $9000.

That price seemed better than reasonable to me considering the condition of this hardtop. I know that the sedans are not bringing much, but hardtops usually bring more and convertibles even more.

I did not notice a prior post on this car. It is possible that it is under some cryptic title. I put it under Studebaker because a 1956 Packard was part of the Studebaker Packard Corp.

Agree, Gary. That's an exceptionally nice car for $9,000.

Seems awful low. I would line up to buy that for $9K assuming it runs and stops.

No, back in the day the elite were referred to as part of the "400" so Packard used that term along with "Patrician" to give a feel that the owner is part of an exclusive group.

I know about the model designation 400. In the description it states 400 cubic inch engine. I assume they did not know better.

In the on air description, they stated the correct displacement.

I looked this car over friday very close, and it left a lot to be desired in my mind. I figured it to be a 10,000.00 car. So take the 9000.00 plus the 900.00 buyer fee and you are very close what it is worth. They sold a 51 con. For 16500.00 plus 10% buyer pre. On friday THEY ALSO SOLD A 35 STUDEBAKER STREET ROD FOR AROUND 120,000.00 PLUS 10% PRE. ON FRIDAY

Nothing better than an onsite inspection! Thanks lugamatic.
