My thoughts are you went in the right direction. Narrower, taller tires on Stude trucks look better to my eyes than lower profile car-type tires. Which brand did you choose?
FWIW, I've run the 215/85-16" Michelins on my E12 for more than thirty years now. Haven't found anything which looks better or works better.PackardV8
