I re-tired my truck. I took off the 235/70R16s and replaced them with 225/75R16s.
Did I do a good thing and should I expect any changes in handling or milage?

Your tires will turn 8 less times per mile and with .4" less width, you should see a little better mileage.
Now, when you enter into a road race course, you may lose a little side bite, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.sigpic1966 Daytona (The First One)

I just re-tired my Champ also....all four still showed good tread but the fronts were 17 years old and the rears were over 30....do you think it was time?

My thoughts are you went in the right direction. Narrower, taller tires on Stude trucks look better to my eyes than lower profile car-type tires. Which brand did you choose?
FWIW, I've run the 215/85-16" Michelins on my E12 for more than thirty years now. Haven't found anything which looks better or works better.PackardV8Comment

Narrower will ride and steer better. You are not likely to see the difference in such a subtle change though except for the newness which is always a revelation!Diesel loving, autocrossing, Coupe express loving, Grandpa Architect.Comment

I always liked the way my truck looked when it had the stock suspension. I was a little bit disappointed when it got upgraded. The front track is narrower than it was stock and it's a little bit lower, but it sure rides better. Big improvement and a small sacrifice. Great picture BTW. taken the same time as my 2008 inside front cover Turning Wheels picture. The lighting was perfect that morning. I save pictures of Studes I like. I have been running the 2R pictures as my screen saver now that I have a 52.
