  • 59 Hawk 6 oil

I have 59 Hawk with Champion 6 with no filter. Engine has less than 3000 rebuilt miles. I am going to be changing oil and am not sure of weight etc.

I live out in So Cal desert, so hot in summer.

    Thanks

I can't help much. I will just add that I am roughly the same predicament. I have a '55 champion six, no filter, that my son and I are working on. We are also in Southern California but in the Pasadena area. I am guessing running 10/30 would be fine. No matter which weight I imagine changing the oil regularly is the key.

WARNING!! Off the shelf motor oil will no longer (since 11/06)do the job for all flat tappet lifter engines! The weight is really the least of your worries.

You need special "Old Car OIL" with high ZDDP additives. We have many posts on here under ZDDP I believe. No need to re-invent the wheel and get into this controversial subject AGAIN!

Try Valvoline or Redline marked as Classic car Oil.

Thanks StudeRich. I had missed those posts. No need to invent the wheel. I'll do a search.
