I'm having trouble with Betty when the temp drops below 45. I've made several adjustments on the choke but can't seem to find the right setting. If i set it so that the flapper barely closes when the throttle is pulled out, the car warms up and then starts flooding itself out or running at a very high idle. I've cleaned all the linkage and the carb throst. When its warm if i set it so the engine runs at the proper idle, it refuses to start the following morning. I never had this trouble with my other studebakers. Oh yeah, its an ohv6 with the rbs carb. I remember when I was a kid our local mechanic showed my mom how to use a clothespin to hold the choke shut to get the car started (it was an amc sportabout). Surely there has to be a way to make this thing work. Any suggestions?
