    I dropped out when I saw it was Avanti centered. I admire the design, but I've never owned one.
    I have wondered to myself what I am supposed to get from Hagerty's magazine. Most of the cars they feature are either foreign or too new to interest me. I would prefer $10.00 or $15.00 off my yearly premium instead of getting a magazine I didn't ask for.

      Well time for me to chime in.
      R3 references dual fours which were actually R4.
      R4 was not Fuel Injected(see above)
      R5 was fuel injected.
      Only one camshaft.
      R2's carburetor was not in a pressure box.
      Granatelli set land speed record at 196 in the R5

        in addition, only 9 R3s on production line (not 10) and no R4s.

          Then there is the Engine Types descriptions:
          Engine Types
          8-cyl. 289cid/240hp 4bbl
          8-cyl. 289cid/289hp 4bbl
          8-cyl. 305cid/335hp 4bbl
          You don't list an R2 as 4 Brl. it's Supercharged.
          And a 304.5 is NOT a 305, and also should be listed as Supercharged.


          +20% for factory a/c (N/A w/R-2).
          You do not say: "N/A w/R-2" without saying N/A w/R-3.

              There's a button "More" which expands the article and brings up much of Bill's references, including:

              The even hotter R3 motor displaced 304.5 cubic inches and generated 280 bhp from dual four-barrel carburetors; and adding a supercharger raised that to 335 bhp. There was even an R4 motor that didn’t reach production, but it had fuel injection and hot cams, and was good for 575 bhp. Indy racer Andy Granatelli set Bonneville records in 1962 with a two-way run of 168.15 mph in an R3, while a near-stock R2 recorded 158 mph over the flying mile.
              Point of clarification, "R5" has become SDC shorthand for the twin Paxton, Bendix fuel injected Avanti they built and ran one time at Bonneville at 196 MPH. The Granitellis called it Due Cento, or "two hundred" in Italian. The engine was restored and displayed recently.
