just because you can doesn't mean you should.

That must have been featured in one of those little customizing magazines back in the fifties.

I hate to say this but if I was looking for another project, I'd take a flyer at this one. It just reeks the period and it would draw a crowd at shows. I'll bet the guys locally could even come up with a period correct roll and pleat interior. I'm intrigued!!

Not bad.......

I'm not sure I could live with the headlight surrounds.

I actually like this. I wish it was closer so I could see it in person

I concur... I like it. Is the top chopped? Its hard to tell in these pix. The last Photo is too deformed to see fer sher. I'm guessing its not, but can't tell from the pictures.
In fact, I kinda wish they'd gone a little further in the customizing. It still look just a bit too stock Studebakery.
But I do like it.

The top does not appear to be chopped in the current pictures. I believe that the image is deformed in that 1979 picture.

Except for where they got carried away at the rear, it appears to be mostly stock 1953 Commander Starliner with AT.

'54 grille....

I do not believe that the grille inner sections (bars) are either 1953 or 1954. To me, they appear to be custom.

May as well be honest. I'm not a fan. I love the look of a stock 53, but IMHO, the modifications that were made were a downgrade. Customizing was a big deal for a while, and some of the work is amazing, but the original design is pretty hard to beat.

Lesson one is how to mess up one of the nicest cars ever built! What were they thinking? The seller has zero feedback, and that won't help with getting bids.

Oh a stock coupe is much better design, but as an example of customizing in the sixties it is pretty interesting!;)

I don't mind a good kustom. This just isn't one of them to me.

Last photo is stated as how his brother bought the car..

Looks like a hard impact to the left rear as the rear wheel is bent.

This photo shows the damage is still there,,

Im digging it. Fixed up properly, I think it would be a rad kustom at shows or for cruising in.
