Were lock rings used on all 3/4 ton studes till the end of the production?

No, the 6-lug two-piece Budd wheels were used only until mid-'56. Then, the Studebaker 3/4-ton gave up its most distinctive and unique styling feature and began using the plain-jane 8-lug BrandX wheels.

Mardy, in future please be sure to make a descriptive title for your posts. One word isn't too helpful :) Cheers!

I agree with Jack. The 6 lug Budd wheels gave them that " I'm built tough" look.

Thanks for the replies. Has any one seen the Budd rims and rings powder coated? I wonder if the the assembly process would scratch things up.

I had those on my '55 E12 powder coated thirty years ago. Changed tires one time. They still look great.
