View Full Version : La Palma 2018 Car Show & Parts Exchange 350+ Pictures

The Beach Cities, Orange & Inland Empire Chapter SDC 44th Annual Car Show and Parts Exchange
was today. Overcast skies prevailed most of the morning and start of the afternoon with no
chance of rain. There was a smaller turnout than usual. I wonder why? Are people selling
them to overseas buyers? There were about 70 cars and trucks. I saw only 2 actual trucks,
unless you count the 2 in the parts area. And there were lots of parts at "fire sale" prices.
And lots of raffle prizes with several people winning multiple prizes. The food items were
sold at the lowest prices I have ever seen at a car show. All and all, a terrific show as
usual I thank all the volunteers for their hard work in putting this together.

I do wonder what the point is of having each entrant bring a fire extinguisher to the show.
From what I saw, more than 3/4 of the extinguishers at this show were recalled last year. If
you had a fire, they would be useless. I had 4 replaced last year. One was from the 80's. To
check if your Kiddie fire extinguisher was recalled, visit:
http://https://www.kidde.com/home- safety/en/us/support/product-alerts/recall-kidde-fire-extinguisher/
They will send you a new unit, and then you send the old one back at no charge to you.
Better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks very much for the Quick action on these Great Photos!

It's ALMOST as good as being there, but a lot cheaper! :D I sure miss going there.

I see way too many good NOS Parts I would just HAVE to have. The only problem is there is no way to identify WHO it is that's selling them.

I am pretty sure most of the good stuff, (NOS) belongs to one of the guys from Arizona and also a lot of piles of used parts from Chuck Naugle's Estate I would guess, when I see a Giant Pile of different color Early and Late Door Strikers, I can tell SOMEONE stripped a WHOLE Lot of Cars. ;)

I really did not care much to look at all those highly modified Street Rods though, a sign of the Future, not the past, that these Cars originally represented.

Nice photos, thanks for posting. Anyone here know who the vendor was with the Aero-Strut wheel covers shown in this pic?

Sure would appreciate a lead. I'm still looking for a nice set.

I really enjoy this show. I really like all the goodies from the vendors. Thanks to all of you for bringing the good stuff.

Wish more would come out, but I understand it gets tough to get there and back.

I did 1116 miles this weekend. I need a rest.

I'm still recovering a bit from the drive out there (and packing my box truck of Studebaker parts from the old house) but it was one of the best La Palma shows ever (impo) seeing a lot of old friends but I had to leave at 11 & looked for Doug Hughes but never did find him. It looked like he came a bit later by where his 66/63 was parked so I know he was there! I was saddened to hear of the loss of Don Cox son-in-law but the honor that was given to him was very nice. Kudo's to all that had a hand in it making a very successful show!
