  • locking gas cap.. Stude?

I noticed in a pic of Mark's '57 Transtar, he has a locking gas cap.
    Granddad's '62 Cruiser has one that's identical to Mark's.

Was it a factory option? Also, the one on the Cruiser unlocks with the key to the aftermarket ignition switch in my Daytona.

Looks like it is aftermarket, for sure.

The "press on" to lock type, are all aftermarket, and I believe that one also is.

I kept the locking gas cap from a 65 F-100 and put it on my 64 Champ.
It fits and looks good. Also has a swivel cover over lock and red trim.
                Available from LMC Truck catalogue.

I have had several Studebakers with locking gas caps, including a pickup. I think that they were all aftermarket. Some people think that the common ones made by Stant are Studebaker because they have an "S" on them.

Before someone misconstrues my answer, I do know that Studebaker did offer optional locking accessory gas caps.

                        Thanks guys.

Does anyone have a picture of an original Studebaker locking cap? I'm curious as to what they look like now.
