My '64 Studebaker Champ with a re-built 6 cyl. OHC (Phil Harris) is ready for it's first start. There are five gallons of gas in the tank. How do I get the gas to flow to the carburetor?

You can either fill the float bowl with gas thru the vent, or put a small amount of gas down the carb. Start the engine and the fuel pump will get gas pumped up to the carb.

Or, crank the engine over with the key off until it fills the carb. This will also get your oil pressure up before you start it.

I have used compressed air through the fuel filler neck to force fuel through the lines. Just cram a rag around the air nozzle. It doesn't matter if some air escapes. You don't need much pressure.
Usually, unless the system is completely dry, a little gas down the carb will get things started.
