Yes Bob did indeed drive his convert to La Palma last year. Had a great time hanging out with him and other like minded people. Hope to make it this year. Hope to have the hood finished and painted with the custom scoop. Also want to have the fins installed and painted by then. It all hinges on my health but you can be assured I will do all I can to make it happen. Looking forward to seeing some old friends and making some new friends.

Bob just posted that he drove down in his four door sedan. Who do you think that I should believe :D?

It was the 4 door but Dan and I did spend some time together, one good person to talk with and know.

Bob tell me I am not loosing my mind. Was there a convertible Avanti at La Palma? Your four door we sat behind. I remember that now but for some reason a convertible is sticking in my mind.

Dan, not sure if there was one there, but there was a lot of Avanti's there and as we get older our mind does do what it wants, yours is no different than mine. and yes we sat behind my 90 and talked about lots of things related to Studebaker's.

Dan, you may be thinking of Marc Udoff's (LA chapter) 2007 Avanti (Mustang under the skin). It's black and very nice. It'll be there with Marc this year and I am bringing Marc's white '63 Avanti (first and last Avantis). See you there.

Hey Sebastian it sure will be nice to seeing you driving that convertible across the desert in style top down. Cool breeze running through your hair. It can't get any better than that.

I'll be there with spare parts to sell, my Avanti will stay home this time as her front seats are being reupholstered.

I have a couple of things available; a vintage engine hoist (hydraulic cylinder needs rebuild), Sun distributor machine (needs work), four V8 flywheels, three "570" cylinder heads, several sets of late rocker arms and shafts with the big pads and small oil hole on the shaft.

I agree it will be a nice drive. Top down and let her enjoy the open road. That yelllow will certainly stick out in LA traffic.

Seb,

What division will you be showing in? I won't be able to bring a Lark, cause there is no beating that..

My wife Kathy and I are still planning be there with the Hawk. I have been really bad off for three weeks and haven't gotten much done but she knows I really enjoy the show and it is very much "therapy" for me. Not to sound morbid but if my doctors are right (I sure they are not) this might be my last visit to La Palma. The cancer treatments are no longer working so all treatments have been suspended for now. Pain level has been sky high so now they are talking about radiating the tumors that are causing the problems and hope they shrink and bring relief. Not a good thing when your doctor tells you to go home and get your house in order. But she has been wrong before so I hold out hope.

So knowing how much it means to me my wife asked if I wanted to go to the shop and work on the car. She said she would do the work if I showed her how and supervised. Sat in chair most of the time but did manage short periods of actual work. Between throwing up sessions. Took a few tries but finally got the right anti nausea pill in me. So after lunch break to take more meds we headed back to the shop and she got the car masked off, the fins marked in, the car taped off. Then she shot the urethane seam sealer on the car. Make for a one piece seamless coating that will prevent any chance of rust. She will do the inside of the fins today if I can handle another trip. She is the best.

Went by and picked up the one thing I didn't build for the car. The rear axles I had made to my specs. Basically late model Corvette u-joints with custom flanges and thick wall tubing. My wife took one look and said "what engine are you planning to run in this car, a blown Hemi". I assured her it was just a Studebaker but you never know with me. Stranger things have happened.

Looking at the pictures they do look kind of over built compared to the Jag units. One item I won't have to worry about. More as it happens.

I guess I can put it in Division 3: Lark-Types, but the judges won't get past the Grill.

So, I'll be in with Division 8: Non-Stock, Studebaker Powered.

That's a very well done and beautiful little "Build it your way" CUSTOM and I like it, but I would have SO much fun making that score sheet the LOWEST scored Stock Class Lark EVER judged at an International, it would take 5 Sheets to delete all the Originality Points ! :D

I don't think Justin would have ANYTHING to worry about! :)

You have to remember, that we-all saw the build process on this Car!

I'm looking forward to going this year, honestly I forgot it was this weekend, I'm glad I saw this thread. I'm hoping to bring my wife's Lark.

Last year I met the Antique Studebaker Club webmaster, I forgot his name, he helped me figure out my ignition issues, I had a prestolite distributor and recommended I walk over to the vendor area and buy the Delco distributor that a guy from Washington or Oregon had for sale. He was asking more than what I had on me so he just took what I had...nice guy. After servicing it and installing it the Lark ran 100% better.

I'd love to see a list of the attending vendors so I can order some stuff and have'em bring it to the show.

Today was a better day. No upward ejection session until a bent over to wash my hands with the hose. We were leaving so it was OK. Kathy got the fins seam sealed after I welded up the holes on the second one. I must have been doing better as I was able to weld them standing up.

Got the new hood scoop today. Not what I was wanting but after I cut it up and make it "My Way" it will be good. Will be bolting it on for this weekend as I have a lot of work to finish on the hood and if I like the finished product I will mold it on with panel bonder.

So tomorrow our grandson is coming up to help Kathy with the car. She is determined to take me to this Sunday.s show if at all possible. We shall see. More as it happens.

I know from Arizona, StudeJohn will be there with some parts as usual, as well as Russ, the new owner of Studebakerparts.com

It's late in the game, but maybe call them today asap.

After 4 years and a whopping 6k miles, looking clean underneath..
