  • StudeRich's '64 Daytona Hardtop

My Dad bought this Daytona in 1982, we found it in the Calif. desert in a collection of cars under a giant carport. The car was delivered new to Long Beach, CA. It is a 259 2V Flight-O-Matic with Power Steering. It has a Black all Vinyl bucket seat interior and a NOS dual exhaust system.
I have owned this car since 1989 when Dad passed away.

This pic was taken about 1997 I think, on Classic Car day at Northrop Aircraft, in front of the Main Co. Cafeteria in Hawthorne Calif.
That's me looking like a Studebaker salesman like Dad was, ready to sell you a new Stude.!

I love to hear stories like that. My dad and I have an old Dodge, 1952 to be exact, that was my Grandfathers. Not in near as nice a shape, but it brings back memories when my Grand Pa would take us for a ride in it.

Nice looking car BTW. Love the front plates as well.

1961 Studebaker Lark VIII. 6x,xxx miles from the factory. Daily driven.

So, could I buy that car at list price in 1964?

      (I think I know the answer. [)])

It is fully restored with 200 miles on the new engine, but only a little over three times the '64 Retail would take it! [^]

I was thinking it should be worth closer to 12,000 which probably is a bit over 3 times it's new cost, I still have to get the interior guy to finish the windlace and headliner, it was always good, but not perfect so I had the whole interior replaced dash and all, also all the chrome, and paint, being a Calif. Desert car, it never had rust issues. I need to move on to my Transtar, and my Avanti, and, and!

Update: I got the windlace in and saved the headliner, now to get the windshield installed and she should be all like new again! [^]

List price would have been about $2500 for that car so you will have to let it go for about $7500.

A stripped Hawk was about 2995 in 64 if I recall correctly and an Avanti about $4400.

Yes, in 1964 you could buy that car for list price (that is what is asked), but you probably mean that you want to buy it now for the 1964 list price <G>.
