  • Body / Glass: Hood locked up

I was doing some detailing on the grill and the upper air deflector on my 49 Champion. After I reinstalled the various detailed parts, I pulled a real boner. I forgot to reattach the hood cable to the spring latch. The hood is now securely latched with no obvious way to open it. As far as I can tell, the only way to get to the latch is from the bottom of the air deflector. If at all possible, I would like to avoid drilling holes or cutting the latch plate in order to reach the now unattached spring lever.

Help! Has any one had this problem? Does anyone have any helpful hints for this snafu? I welcome any and all comments and suggestions!

Service Bulletin 182 was published in 1947 but should apply to a '49 as well.

Took me 1/2 day to get hood open on my 49 when it was new to me. Replaced cable but also attached a pull so that the hood could be released from underneath.
