Since I've had no responses in another thread, I've started this new one.

December Turning Wheels was mailed November 22nd. Has anyone in Canada received their copy yet? Canada Post has already announced they're behind in deliveries with apologies, but 20 days and no delivery is much less than acceptable.

Sorry Stu you are going to have to accept the unacceptable. I am waiting for my Turning Wheels and from what I have heard about Canada Post they are overwhelmed and making deliveries for parcels on Sundays.

I rarely get my copy before the 12th or so, but you are a few blocks closer to the Post Office and might get it sooner.

Hi Stu :

I don't live far from Bruce and no sign of it either . If you say it was mailed on the 22 of November it might get to Manitoba by New Years if we are lucky and your place just after Xmas . I have been complaining about this problem for years and I think it is time we all rebelled against Canada Post and found another source for delivery . I , like Stephenj rarely get it before the third week of the month , and an irritating thing is guys are on the forum saying did you read in the ______ issue about ____ and you have to wait for another few weeks to read what they are talking about and by the time you read it it is old news or your opportunity has passed .

Hi Stu: Canada is a BIG country, sometimes we have snow , so the Post office gets the snow Sleds ready for all the mail, then the weather warms up so they have to go back to just the horses to deliver the mail, we never expect it to arrive till its here, then we can sit down and enjoy another copy. It really doesn't matter.

If TW was available in digital format, there would be no waiting.

Sacrilege Don!! ;) You have to be careful with those new fangled ideas...
Although, I can tell you I am the newsletter editor for our local chapter of about 30 members and EVERYONE now receives their monthly newsletter via email as a pdf - and our average age is about 72 yrs. Just sayin' :):!:

BTW Stu, no sign of the December TW out here on the west coast of Canada yet... course, I just got November a couple of weeks ago.

Canada Post clearly has some work to do on timely delivery. My Sept. TW was delivered sometime after Oct 13 as I had not received it before I left for a vacation, but was in my mail box when I returned mid Nov. Its not limited to TW either...my Dec. issue of Car and Driver arrived on Dec 9, just about a month after it usually arrives, and go figure, I received my Jan. issue of Car and Driver yesterday. Dec. TW, not here...hopefully it will arrive in the new year...lol. cheers, junior

It's December 19th and today our letter carrier delivered our December Turning Wheels. That means it took 27 days from mailing date to delivery date.

Since I am aware that some U.S. members received their copies as early as 6 days from date of mailing, it is clear that we have a serious problem with Canada Post. Over the past few years we have fielded numerous complaints over late TW delivery but Ann Turner is doing an excellent job of maintaining deadlines and our printer is doing his part as well. This issue was mailed November 22nd.

We are led to believe that changing to the portrait format, beginning with the January 2018 issue, should resolve some post office handling issues. We'll soon see. I would ask that Canadian members in particular post their December receipt dates, as well as report their January receipt dates.

I did a high level contact at Canada Post at one point which I hope is still valid. So in due course I will attempt to get some assurance from them that delivery improvement becomes a priority.

BTW my December issue was folded at the spine, also an ongoing problem. I guess the letter carrier doesn't understand the large printed words DO NOT BEND!

New format starting January should not have to worry about that bend Stu.

On the other hand, I ordered a large item from Walmart in Toronto. It was to be delivered by Canada Post.
Arrival was to be today, Dec. 19. It arrived Dec. 16. here on Vancouver Island.
I wonder if magazines are handled through a different department than regular mail.
When I send cards or letters, the delivery is close to 7 days.
It appears that your TW are going a different route.

Mine arrived yesterday, Dec 19...was nice to have it sealed in a plastic bag as it was snowing like crazy. Also rec'd my Feb. issue of HOTROD mag, but sadly the cover was soggy due to the snow. cheers, junior

Received my TW on Monday December 18. The postal worker placed it in the parcel box portion of the group mail box after he folded it at the spine.

I'm with Evan nothing here yet either. I talked with Mark Wheeler and he told me Sheridan Press is moving their distribution centre and this should improve delivery times . We'll wait and see , then we can go back to blaming Canada Post .

I received my Dec.2017 Turning Wheels today, Dec.20.2017. I believe that is the latest ever in the 42 years I have been getting it at this address.

At the same time I must say I have been satisfied with Canada Post's delivery speed of 3 parcels I mailed for Christmas, 6 days from Moncton NB to Duncan BC; 5 days Moncton to Kitchener ON and Halifax NS. One parcel mailed to me from Mississauga ON took only 2 days, which is the very best a first-class letter would ever do.

However, parcels are big money-makers for Canada Post, letters less so, and magazines far down on the totem pole.

Just to add I received by December issue of TW on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Of course, December is the worst month for mail delivery. Canada Post gets loaded up with mail and parcel deliveries for Christmas. And a number of stores are getting into on-line sales with your purchases being delivered to the seller. Best Buy uses Purolator Courier while Walmart uses Canada Post. Just more deliveries for the Christmas rush.

I noticed there is a sticker on the TW plastic cover regarding Publications Mail Agreement No. 40064709. Wonder what that agreement covers. Any maximum or minimum times for delivery? I know magazines are not considered first class mail so they won't be delivered in less than a week.

I will add I got mine Dec 29. It was folded in line with the spine to allow it to fit in my superbox slot so it only took a couple of days for the fold to flatten out.
