  • Interior: Removal of door handles, 1966

My driver side window is a bear to wind up or down. I want to remove the door handle and window winder handle.
Are these held on with the horseshoe clip like Ford, etc.?
I have one of those tools here....somewhere.
    Thank you for any help.

Yes. There is a plastic washer behind the handle. You need to insert the tool between the handle and anything that is behind it.

I take a paperclip straghten it out then bend a small hook on one end. will pull the clip right out.

        I do the same thing.
I've also heard some guys pull a shop rag between the handle and plastic washer, and this will snag the end of the clip and pull it off.

Same clip as used by GM for years. Harbor Freight has a tool for the job that makes it quick & easy. Unless the clip has been re-installed wrong just slide the tool under the handle portion & as noted above, side the clip out of the handle.
