  • Looking For- Original R2 Lark or Superlark

My son and I are looking for another project after completing the 65 Cruiser. I have a fair amount of parts left over from other projects. It would be nice to find an original 63 or 64 R2 or Superlark that won't break the bank. We prefer a manual 4 speed to an automatic. I think we like the 63's over the 64's, but are open to either. Does anybody know of anything out there? Thanks.

Bob I was not aware that your 64 HT was an Avanti powered car. Heck I would have been a lot more interested to take on a project had I known that.

How much are you asking for it?

It’s not an R1 or R2. It’s a Daytona that could be converted into one.

Hardtops (without the pillar) were only available in 64, so that should narrow your search.

My plans since the day I got this 64 Daytona to to make the car Studebaker should have a 66 hardtop so over the years I collected all the parts to make the 64 into a 66, if one like single light headlights the the 66 would fit the bill, one could put the commander single headlights on the 64 and have one of a kind also. I have owner this car over 20 years it is a California car rust free and came with bench seat.

I have a ‘64 Daytona hardtop that is already converted into a very authentic R2 4-speed car. I had not thought about selling it, but I am in the middle of 3 other restorations so it might be a possibility... PM me if you have any interest. Could send pictures.
I also have an elderly friend with a ‘64 Daytona hardtop V8/auto car that is for sale— has been sitting in his shed for many years.
