  • Front disc calipers for 78 Avanti

I ordered new front brake calipers from Rockauto for my 78 Avanti. The ones they sent only had one piston and were totally different than what is on the car. Every site i went to was the same. They had the proper replacement pads (the square ones) but a totally different caliper. My car has two pistons, one on each side of the rotor. Any information would help.

Do a google for Studebaker part number 1558182 and you will find what you need or try studebakervendors.com

The Problem with Non-Studebaker Parts Co.'s is; they have NO idea of the different models, 6 and 8 Cyl., Hawk, Lark Type or Avanti, Disc. or Drum, so you almost always get a mix of non-compatible WRONG Parts.

The '78 calipers would be the same as the original '63. They are available, but expensive. I would suggest that you consider upgrading to Turner Brake, as I have done on my '78. The braking is improved, and replacement components are readily and inexpensively available from your FLAPS.
