  • Smithy's mufflers

I have a 1955 hdtp coupe, 259, 2 bbl, automatic. It needs an exhaust system and I'd love to have the nostalgic glass pack sound. Any body have some info on the Smithy's mufflers? I understand they were quite the item in the old days and they are still available. thanks, Ernie in Louisville

What are billed as "Genuine Smithy's Mufflers" are currently available from Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Nebraska. What are billed as "Patriot Smithy Mufflers" are sold by Summit Racing Equipment, main store in Akron, Ohio. BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Thanks Guys. Anybody been using them on their Stude V8's? It has a 2" inlet and outlet. Is this adequate? Thanks, Ernie

Inlet is fine, but most Studebaker tailpipes are 1 7/8 inch so you'll need a exhaust bushing.

So THAT's where that exhaust bearing gets installed!

Almost as fun as a Studebaker!

I use Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Mellow rumble. Sounds like more power than you have.
