  • engine id

    Hi,

I found my engine id but it doesn't make much sense its, 3457182 its a 6 cylinder . There is a space after the 3 but no markings?

    Thanks

The only number with meaning on an engine block is stamped, not raised above the surface. On a 6 cyl engine, look on the driver's side of the engine, forward end, upper corner of the block, not on the head. The stamped numbers there will allow someone to tell you what the engine is.

Gonna need a lot more information from you. What is this engine in; the '37 bus? Would like to see a photo of the entire engine and a close-up of that engine number if possible.

That probably makes it a '48 Champion 169 c.i.d. Six.
If the "2" on the end, has a space before it, that would be for 2nd Shift and make more sense.
