Replacing a front shock on 64 hawk with heavy duty gas shock I bought 25 yrs. ago .The number on the shock is 739087,looking at the reference on some sites they have the no.82087 for replacing that shock. What the difference?

It could be that the company created a new numbering system or consolidated numbers to reduce the number of shocks to produce.

The 82087 is a Gabriel Classic Gas H.D. Shock as I and other Studebaker Vendors currently sell.

Your old stock shock probably just a different line of shocks for a different type of driving that USED to be made for Studes. or a rolled newer Number.

If the extended and collapsed Length is close to your old Shocks, and the mounting at the bottom matches they should be fine.

If you want the best, don't forget there is link in the forum for Dave getting Koni Shocks made for our cars. They are incredible over any other shock and no comparison can properly be made. IMHO
