  • gas sender woe

I took the non-working gas sender out of the Hawk apart. The tip of the wiper had long corroded away and the boards holding the resistance winding are falling loose. Is it beyond repairable? Is there a workable substitute for under $135?

I bought a replacement from Chuck Collins, StudebakerParts.com works fine on my GT Hawk.

I used a stewart warner universal type from speedway motors, think it was about $35.00 .Just had to measure tank depth and adjust to fit.

I think yours has a line going thru the sending unit. That makes it a little harder to find a replacement

The Fuel Pickup Tube does go thru the Sender on '56 & '57's so you will have to modify one or create a New Fuel Pickup in the Tank, THAT would NOT be the easy way!
