My '53 Commander has a '56 289 in it and everything has been converted to 12 volts. My question is which year water temp sender to use with the stock dash gauge. I see in the vendor catalogs they list as 6 volt or 12 volt. Does this make a difference for only the sender?

Thanks,
Rich

What you need is a Volt-A-Drop Unit to reduce the Voltage from 12 to 6, because you need that for your Fuel Gauge as well.

THEN to use your Stock '53 Gauges you can use the correct '51 to '55 Commander 6 Volt Sender, it takes the 1951 to early 1957 Larger Hole Cyl, Head Block-off Plate for the rear of the Left Head for the Temp. Sender.

Yes the Ohm rating required for both Fuel and Temp. Senders on 6 volt is NOT the same as 12 Volt.
