  • Self Proclaimed King of the Dial In

I know it is just the luck of the rubber hammer tap to get the position, but I was so shocked by the result I had to share. I recently finished alignment of the bell housing to Dad's new Champion flat six. Once tightened up and dowel bolts installed the run out was 0.000, 0.000, 0.001 and 0.001 at 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock positions.

Wayne, is that the best you could do? Sheesh.

Sometimes you just have to live with imperfection. Perhaps a dead-blow hammer instead of a rubber one would put it dead on?
      Good job and happy motoring.

Don't the SIXES have those cool Eccentric "Dowel Bolts"? Maybe it's only the trucks, but I did one that was a piece of cake compared to a V8.

Not to down play your fantastic accomplishment of course!

I bow to you, sir. Prostrated on the floor in awe.
And I mean it. That is truly amazing.
Great job. Luck or no luck, that's incredible.
