Ok, just curious about the trim over the doors to hold headliner on the 49 up Studebaker trucks. My M series has metal trim, but trim I removed from a 49 ? (maybe 50) in a salvage yard is made of aluminum. Neat part is they haven't rusted and after plastic and glass bead blasting, acid etch and alodining, and a good coat of primer, they look like new.Question is,how many years did they make the trim out of aluminum? they seem to be out of O material and seem like one die would do( both sides alike). Are these hard to come by or is someone already reproducing them?

Randy,

As far as I know, all C-cab's wore that aluminum trim. There's also a straight piece that fit's the front edge of the door opening.[^]

I wonder if the 55's had that aluminum trim above the doors. Those pieces were missing when I got my truck. There was still plenty of original, dilapidated headliner cardboard screwed in place with the original screws, but no aluminum trim (I don't have the front edge of door opening pieces you mentioned either). After I bought a pair of the above door trim pieces, I noticed some photos of '55 C-Cabs without them. Hmmmm.

Nope. 55's don't have 'em!

55's don't have them? In that case, I didn't need to buy these and clean them up all nice. Haven't installed them yet, so maybe they go back on eBay for someone whose truck really needs them.

Thanks for the info, Allan.

Ya know - I'd never looked to see what years used those pieces. I used them in Pete tho. Not sure I'd be happy without them to help retain and hold straight that upper piece of headliner above the doors![:I]
