Whatever year it is, it has a '50 Champion front clip.

Several years ago, (perhaps a decade or more), there was a similar car owned by a N.C. member of the SDC. He had driven it to one of our Myrtle Beach gatherings. If I am recalling correctly, it was a '48 Coupe, had a SBC engine, '50 front clip, and an S-10 rea rend. The owner told me the S-10 rear bolted right up to the '48 springs with no modification. I can't recall if it was still running the original planar suspension.

I wonder if this is the same car with a newer paint job?

There used to be several 49-52 model Studebakers with 50 front caps being called 48 models so they could get into the street rod shows. Some may have even had 48 paperwork. Once the car has been modified you would have to look close to tell its origin. They still make cool rods regardless of the date on their paperwork.
