What is the correct positioning of the Lark/Hawk 4-speed shifter boot chrome retainer? (It's not symmetrical.....one corner has a much larger radius curve.) The parts manual is no help, and the Shop Manual doesn't show the boot and retainer.

Is this correct:
65591

Or is this correct:
65592

Also, am I correct in assuming that the "grommet filler washer" (basically a thick rubber washer) part number 1339523 sits on top of the shifter boot?

The chrome retainer ring for the shifter boot on the 4-speed in my factory equipped '63 Hawk has the larger radius curve in the corner closest to the driver's seat as shown in your second photo. The rubber washer was missing when I got the car, so I do not know where it goes.

Thanks Dale for the feedback -- that is (at least to me) the position where the retainer "looks" correct.
