Have we seen this one before, I don't remember it. Looks like nice work to me but will end up out of my range.

Much work done but still has 53 brakes which in my opinion are inadequate.

Nice choice of colors (or lack of colors)... Looks black&white in a color pic:rolleyes:

Two tone green.... looks very similar to the green used on certain mid-60's Corvettes. It looked like silver metallic when viewed straight on, but had a greenish tint from an angle. My guess, it was a silver basecoat, with green mixed into the clear coat. Of course, the roof is darker green metallic. Probably very handsome in person.

Looks fine to me,maybe you guys need new monitors! Chris, you don't add color to clearcoat, unless it's candy color, and this one is not candy.

Very nice car. I'm guessing reserve will be close to 30K. I wish that I had that laying around, so I could put in a bid. Some painters do put color in their clear coat. It may not be the normal thing to do, but in my research for my own paint job, have read about a few guys using that method.

DAMN! You mean I've been doing it wrong for 40 years?

Interesting - most professionals will insist on the running gear being finished before the high dollar paint work, so as not to risk damage while getting the engine in and out and up and running.

Very Nice looking '53 Commander. :!:

I did not see any mention of the Engine size, 232 or a 259 in the TEXT to match the '55 Commander Wildcat Valve Covers.

It just shows the Engine Size as "259" with no mention that it was changed, only the Speedster Automatic Trans. and side trim were mentioned as "Changed". ????

Maybe it's just the seller who's confused and thinks that this 259" is the original engine? Maybe he doesn't realize that there are differences between '51 - '54 and '55 Commander engines? It doesn't have a 232" fuel pump or a 232" intake manifold and carb. It doesn't have the oil filter a '55 President engine would be equipped with either? Kind of hard to tell exactly what carb is actually under that air cleaner but it looks like it's likely a 4 Bbl? Seems pretty unlikely that it is the original engine but only the actual engine number will verify this?
