View Full Version : Ron Hackenberger auction -- horsedrawn" Studebakers"

I am sure everyone here knows that Auctions in general are 'Buyer Beware.' In this case do let me warn you some of the supposed Studebakers offered might not be what Ron was told they were. One of them I am positive is a McLaughlin, and that without even good pictures! The two restored by Alvin Raber (A&D Buggy) are more likely to be what they are purported to be and look to be beautiful examples of later (1890-1915) Studebaker work. The "Bob Sleigh" is a Portland Cutter and also looks... off. Though Studebaker did make sleighs like this by the thousands. I don't think Mr. Hackenberger is trying to pull anything off, just that he might have been hoodwinked by someone else.

Those McLaughlins are worth a big buck up here in Canada

Forgot I started this thread... I wasn't meaning to denigrate McLaughlin. I have one and like them a lot. However, it's an insult to both makers to pretend one is another.
