This is an odd 51 on a Studebaker showroom floor. Look at the two tone paint and the rear continental kit.

I agree that it is an "unusual/odd" custom. It is a 1951 with a continental kit as well as the strange paint job.

It is odd being in a new car showroom...maybe an advertising gimmick? Cool picture though!

You have to wonder who bought it and where it ended up.

Likely a repaint at some time in it's life, because that custom paint job probably didn't look so "cool" by 1955.

Interesting the Land Cruiser in the background also has blackwall tires.

Any guesses on the car's paint colors? Yellow and green, maybe? Cream and brown?

You asked, my feeling is gray with black accent and wheels. If it was yellow it would be at least the same hue as the model's skirt.

That paint line looks something like the abandoned N series of circa 1952.

I wonder what that plug is hanging below the rear bumper.

Looks like a part of the tilt mechanism, possibly a stop to keep the tire from hitting the trunk.

I wonder what that plug is hanging below the rear bumper.
