  • Frame / Springs: frame and axle paint colors

Where do you find what color were use for the frame, springs, axle and other parts of a 54 champion

On most of the Studebakers I have seen those parts are usually gloss black.

Just about all of the undercarriage parts and frame except the Exhaust System were black with some amount of Gloss, but nothing like the High Gloss Paints and base/clear coats of Today. It was more like Semi-Gloss Chassis Black.

I used a black epoxy primer. It dries with a nice satin sheen. Since those parts are not exposed to sunlight you don't have to have a top coat.

if you take it to get powder coated.. 20% gloss black..
Of course I mixed it up a bit with gloss for the control arms and silver cast for the kingpin and control arm rods.
