  • Frame / Springs: Springs

Following a frame-off and re-assembling my '64 Champ P/U, there there is a decided "lean" to the truck. Viewed from the front, the passenger side sits lower than the driver side. The truck manual reads: "On these vehicles, left and right front springs have different carrying heights and are not interchangeable. The LEFT front spring is identified by a 3/8" hole in the side of the front rebound clip. The rebound clip on the RIGHT side spring does not have a hole." What are "left" and "right"? Are left and right determined by facing the truck or standing behind it?

Left and right on a vehicle is established by sitting in the driver's seat. Thus, left is the driver's side and right is the passenger side.

Yikes! The 3/8" hole is on the left side. Wonder what is causing the lean?

Have the springs ever been taken off, and disassembled at the same time? If so, could any leaves have been interchanged, or even just the rebound clips put on the wrong springs? I have no specific knowledge of your problem, just throwing out an idea.

R, If you look at the rear spring hanger, the one with the shackle on it, you will find that it is riveted on the frame in a lower spot on the drivers side than the passengers side. That throws off the rear too.
