Ditto Mark's (Bullet) note of appreciation. Same two reasons. My wife and I have good memories of visiting meets in South Bend in the past.

Thanks for the post. I slipped out of the swap meet and got most of my pictures on Friday and then found out that night that my lens had water on it. I tried to retake some pictures Saturday morning before we had to leave, but I could not find some of the vehicles. :(

Thanks for posting the pictures, even thou I was there in S/B I did not not really look at the cars and trucks unless they were close to the road as I was on a power scooter with small wheels. As most of you that were there or at least some know I lost 3 envelopes with a lot of money all for vendors that I was picking things up for others and I was around asking if any one had seen or had picked them up all 3 had vendors names on them so easy to figure where they were to go but no luck and I looked every were and some place 3 times. As luck would have it today when cleaning out my suit case what do I find ? ya the 3 envelopes right where I had put them for safe keeping and the main place I had looked about 5 times. All I can say is don't get old because life gets harder to remember things. all in all it was a good meet and always nice to visit with old friends........Bob

I heard the PA announcement about the envelopes, glad you found them. You were one forum poster I had hoped to meet but didn't.

I knew I should have gotten cashiers checks for you Bob, I'm sure glad you found the dough. If I were ever losing money somewhere, I would definitely want it to be there because, I feel sure you would almost certainly have it returned, Studebaker people are the greatest and definitely watch out for one another. With the parts that you are bringing back to Cali my Coupe Express will hopefully make next years meet--- Thanks Bob, you are definitely one of the ones that help this Club be a great experience and thanks to Richard Jantry, Tom Lewis and Jeff Rice for giving up those hard to find C.E. Parts, You guys are the best!

Thank you for pictures and Bob so glad you found the money and had the guts to admit you stashed it and could not remember were. I on the other hand have never had that problem. Ha Ha

Thanks for the pix. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to So. Bend this year. I like the idea that the meet was held in May. I really don't like August meets with the extreme heat and humidity.

Photoguy,
Thanks for taking the trouble to post your great pics for those of us who unfortunately couldn't make it. It even looks like the weather was reasonable, but perhaps cool.
Cheers, Bill

Hey... No sweat, Gene...
I had a friend (Who owns that '41 Willys street rod I worked on a while back) stop by yesterday...
He asked me to cut and trim and put a bend in 4 pieces of stainless steel.
It was kind of thick, too. So I dutifully did what he asked.
When I asked him where these pieces go, he said "Oh, these are not for the Willys, they're for my BBQ".
When we were all done I asked him if he wanted a receipt. I got 'The look'
He said "What do I owe you?" I said "Well, I have retired, so my new labor rate is $100 an hour..or a ride in your Willys and a couple of beers".
Yeah... We're all like that!:!: But I've already ridden in and driven your Coupe Express... Before you did!;)

Jeff,
Having only had my C.E. less than a year now, I have had to go at it slower pace than I normally operate due to the scarce parts availability, something that I'm not use to. I didn't realize until after I bought my Champ a few years back, how helping everyone one in the Studebaker Club seemed to be, I'm the same way. If I ain't using it, it does me no good to see parts setting around that others could use to make their dreams complete. Your and my truck are definitely not the Standard, I'm actually kind of using your build to guide me to make this C.E. an absolute "crowd favorite," even as unfinished as it is, it still draws the crowds a major events and gives me a sense of pride when people really seem to enjoy the little truck. I am jealous that you rode and drove it before me, I still remember trying to buy yours and what you told me--- "You don't want to buy mine, you want to buy my buddy Jimmy's C.E." and I did! Thanks Jeff!

Well, the exact quote was "You don't want to buy this bondo'd up crappy Yellow POS...
You want to go buy my buddy Jimmy's C.E."...and you did!:!:

I would have bought your truck in a "hot flash," but you need to keep that truck--- "it's You," it's your identity and mine ultimately will be the same and if I had bought your truck, you would now be "Deepncash," "Deepnhock" works better. I actually have all the parts that I need now With your and everybody else's help. I think it's going to meet my criteria perfectly, A/C on, 85MPH in the Hammer lane and absolutely the most beautiful pick up ever produced by any mark cruising down the highway. Every time you see me in my C.E. I have an enormous smile on my face and I hope it never leaves!

A few more fairgrounds pic.s. I really liked that vintage motorhome.
I was going 65 mph heading west on I 90 in New York Wednesday when that green '55 passed me like I was parked. I didn't get a chance to talk with him and peek under the hood.

Hi Bob,
Glad to hear you found the envelopes. When Ian told me you were back at the Hotel searching for them my heart sank. Thank you for transporting the seat back to California, selling it took a bite out of the trip expenses.

Hello Bob,
I had heard about your lost envelopes with all of that $$. We were going to say goodbye to you right after you were speaking to Paul Revell but you looked so distraught we thought we'd better let you continue your search. It was a pleasure meeting you and being there when Dave picked up his 54 and very happy to hear the money was safe all along!
