are the torque converters the same in a flight o matic and a powershift ? same year both '64

The 2 powershift i have are stamped HR and BB. They do have a higher stall speed.
I also have 2 that are FOM and are stamped HT and FT.78 Avanti RQB 2792

FOM is Flight-o-matic. It's the transmission Studebaker started to use after Borg Warner jacked up the price on the Detroit Gear automatic.
Would someone explain stall speed to me, please? I think I know, but...RadioRoy, specializing in AM/FM conversions with auxiliary inputs for iPod/satellite/CD player. In the old car radio business since 1985.

High stall converters allow more slippage at low RPMs that allow higher engine speeds to produce more torque for burnouts…
Note that this comes from a novice who prefers mpg as opposed to rpm… (I'm sure that some of the experts can explain it more eloquently than me)

As I understand stall speed is the RPM the engine will turn with the brakes held and the throttle floored.
Hawk owner.You do not want to do this for very long because the power of the engine becomes heat.
I was setting on the floor boards of a truck running a cooling test and we stalled the converter and oil temp went 500deg right now and I was yelling to driver to down shift.

Since stall speed is used to account for the torque range of the engine, I would guess that a non R engine would have a converter with a lower stall. The FOM and power shift converters are inter changeable. FWIW, you can specify stall when you have a converter rebuilt.78 Avanti RQB 2792
