I noticed that, in filling out the Craigslist details, the seller listed it as "gas" powered. I thought all those flat nosed trucks were diesel powered. When noticing where this truck is located, I couldn't help but wonder. Back in his more youthful, healthy days, how did this truck escape being collected up by Chuck Naugle? Either it was well hidden, or perhaps you could have found all the missing parts in his stash. My impression, as large as Texas is, as huge as the southwest region is, not many Studebakers escaped Chuck's attention, back in the day.

Back when (about 1970) my "Little Brother" picked up one of these totters. Cleaned it up. Bought a "single wide" and headed for college. Got most of the way there before a "County Mounty" stopped him. After some conversation the Officer escorted him the rest of the way to his trailer court destination. Unfortunately soon after he sold it for book money. It was a very complete unit with a rack behind the cab for the three drive shafts. A pully system to help re-position the frame. It had a flat nose. (At the time we were told this helped to keep the length under legal limits.) It was a gas V8...

The truck is listed on the Lubbock Craigslist. I think there was "flat nose" at one of the first sales at Chuck's. I do remember see some over the years (ago) at Studyacres as well. I also remember 3 and 4 cylinder diesel's at times past in Vail.

I tried to get a pic of the engine on that diesel truck but could not get the hood up far enough to get a nice angle on it. It looked like a 3 cyl Detroit. It appeared in good cond but long neglected.
