Hello All,

My name is Mark Bednorz and I am restoring a 1951 Champion Starlight coupe. I am looking for a pair of the front fender ornaments part number 291678. Anyone know where I can find some? I have been looking on vendors pages from the web ring but no luck yet. Also, can anyone measure the distance from the front of the headlight to the front of the fender ornament? My champ did not originally come with the spears. Thank you for the help!

Mark

These were Optional Accessories, so are pretty Rare, you may have to do without them, as Most Champions are.

I like the car as well without them, so even if you do find a pair, I'd wait and do some strong thinking before drilling holes to mount them.
I have a nice original 29 Chevy Coach, and years ago I bought a pair of step plates to mount on the running boards.
As soon as I drilled the holes to mount them, I knew I made a mistake, and should have left them off.

Mark, Are you going to drill holes or you already have the holes.

I just purchased out the whole inventory of a old Studebaker dealership. Lot of trim and perhaps spears. I will check tomorrow.

I'll be going to the Chuck Naugle sale this Saturday. I can measure the hole locations for you, if this is what you're looking for. 63193631946319563196

I wonder if there are any of the ornaments in the treasure trove of parts recently acquired by Stephen Cade Studebaker. The ones from the Tangiers, Morocco dealership.

Thanks for thinking of us. Mark already contacted us, and we don't have any. We did find some for 52s with the Lucite insert, though.

From the front peak edge of the spear to the fender edge is 3 1/4 ".63248 The photo looks like the ruler is over the fender edge but it's not, it's just the angle of the shoot.

Did they have any of the elusive '52 rear fender ornaments? That was quite a discovery!

Hi, we recently acquired a '52 hard top but both the front fender ornaments are missing the front parts, would you sell us a pair of ornaments, we live in New Zealand, down the bottom of the world, we are going to the SDC International next month, maybe we could see you there, Kay & Dave Toomey

Hi, check out our website if you're interested. We have a picture of the NOS 52 spears listed. Send us an email through the site and we'll be glad to take them to South Bend for you.

Here's a couple of photos I promised. I have close-ups if you want, but the measurements are the same. It was a little strange that the hole diameter on the rusty one was .250 and the painted one had .400 diameter holes. From the front edge, the hole centerlines are 5.25, 12.62, and 20. I'd suggest taking good measurements of the ornaments before drilling.
