A while back I went to look at some 'car parts' for sale including an 'unknown V8 engine'. I was hoping to find a Stude or maybe a Packard engine. Instead, I got an 'unknown' overhead cam V8 engine, complete except for intake and exhaust manifolds. Seller said he was told by an 'expert' that it was a Stag engine. It is not. I do think it might be British, but there is nothing on the engine to ID it. I did find a sticker that said 'Haynes'. The only Haynes I know of was an early 20th century car. Here's a couple photos.

The Haynes logo on the stand looks to be same as the repair manual folks.

 That was fun! I found the 'Visible V8' at Goodwill, had to have it for no particular reason.

How do you sonic test that engine for cylinder wall thickness? <G>

And I thought it was the long lost Studebaker Electric Hybrid Experimental engine that was going to save Studebaker in the late 70s when they were going out of business in Mexico.
